    Is it bad to want to show off?

    I'm getting worse. If something I'm really pleased with is ready on the allotment, such as my first Maystar cauliflower at the moment, I can't bear to pick it unless there are other allotmenteers around to show it off to on my way out. This applies mainly to things no-one else has grown and I wondered if I was alone in this.
    It obviously runs in the family as a couple of years ago my young niece asked me if she could have some fruit & veg for her harvest festival as the previous year her mum had forgotten all about it and so she wanted to take something really nice to make up for that. I got a big box from the supermarket, filled the bottom with straw, and we managed to fill the box with a really good selection. The next day she took it to school, she'd added a handwritten sign to it saying that it was all allotment grown without chemicals etc and an old photo of herself digging up new potatoes. According to my sister (who had the job of carrying it) she made sure that every single child in the school saw it before she delivered it to the headmaster.

        Erm - you have to watch out with cauliflowers... one minute they are just right and the next minute they are yellowing and past their best!

        Take a photo and join in our virtual fruit and veg show Then cut the cauli and enjoy it!

            I even eat the show stuff. Well that is everything except celery which gets drowned with slugit liquid which isn't good to have in one's diet. I was really just making the point that I'm an exhibitionist also. Not unknown for me to chuck a 4lb onion to a fellow plotter.

                I put the bunting up on the Vine because I was so pleased with it, and very pleased it was finished too.

                            If youv'e got it flaunt it. In the nicest possible way of course. I meet with a mate once a fortnight for a couple of pints and to put the world to rights. The growing season can be very interesting. Walk in the club sit down and look at his first early tomato sat proudly on the table (he always wins that one). Then there is every other veg you can think of as the season progresses.

                              Can he catch it though?
                              Does the flavour change between a standard sized onion and an exhibition stonker AP? Never had a big one myself not that I'm complaining!!!
