  • Look what I've found!!!...brill idea!

OK- you'll need to collect them for a while but look at these...

What I like best is that you can write on the shell to say what's been sown and when- and when it comes to planting out, you just crush the shell gently and there's no root damage!
( obviously you need to make a small drainage hole in the base)

That's my idea of recycling- the shell and tray can then go into the compost!
    Brill!

      Bladdy brilliant.

Double bladdy brilliant for children. Think cress and a painted face.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Well- we get through loads of eggs.
I never seem to have enough starter pots- I was hunting high and low to find them in the barn when I needed to sow my chillies. They would have been brilliant!

          ...why stop at chillies?

Absolutely brilliant idea. Duck then goose eggs when potting on?

Thing is, I never crack eggs neatly like that. Pity I didn't think about reusing the shells of all those eggs I wasted making, or try to make, diabetic meringue last Tuesday.

Funny thing is that I've seen cotton wool and cress seeds growing in egg shells for years but never made the connection to fill with potting compost and sow veg seeds in them.
Seems pretty obvious now you come to think about it!

They say the best ideas are usually the simplest and that is a very simple, yet very good idea.
Plus, slugs are supposed to be unhappy climbing over jagged eggshells so, when planting out, the shell could be carefully removed then crushed and sprinkled around the seedling.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

I've been wondering about how to crack a raw egg at the end- then suddenly remembered I have one of these...

hmmm...now then- where to find it????
