  • tomatoes tumbler... first mini truss spoted.. is ok?

today when i woke up i looked closer to one of my tomato tumbler and i noticed that on top was something growing that didn't look like a leaf but about 10 tiny dot... tonight when i put all my plants back in the kitchen from outside i realized that they are buds... is normal to have the first truss already... is too early or not? should i remove or leave? as potubdustbin ( colin) told me i've been feed them every week with miracle gro plant food to develop a nice plant with a lovely root system. do you think should i swap already to a tomato food ( as tomarite)?
    thanks

Last year, according to my notes, I had the first fruit set on 17th April. For some reason way behind that this year but yes it's fine. Personally I would start feeding with tommie food when the first fruit has set

Well done Sarico! I too start feeding tomato feed when the first fruit has set. My plants are nowhere near that stage yet.

Sarico, what date were they sown?

I always plan to have an early start to the season, and then life gets in the way. Does having 200+ tomato seedlings make up for it?
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

like i said is not already flowering but i saw the buds from the top... i saw them on the 15 february... i sow more on the same day and only this one has buds on top ( very tiny)... is quite exite because last year i tried 2 tom plant one bush cherry tom and one cordon... i didn't have a lot of time to grow...

my tomatoes are outside in my blowaway in the mornig when the temperature reach a least 10c ( usually the thermometer reach that temp before 10 am) and at night in my kitchen...

today i will make a picture and i hope you can see them...

I've got first truss on my Golden Gems (10" high) - no baby toms yet, but they won't be long in this sunshine

Well done mate got my first ones to. What everyone means by fruit set is when you can see tiny toms and thats a couple of weeks of yet.

With any luck you will be picking toms by the end of May weather permitting. With Tumbler wait till they are well ripe (should just give a little when gentle squeezed between finger nad thumb) for best taste.
