  • Have i got this wrong

    Hi Folks

    Another question.......

Does it matter if i have kayle and rocket with peppers and chillies also tomatoes growing together as my rocket and kayle are sprouting rather rapidly but me others have not showed any signs of life at all it does say 7-14 days before they appear.

    All help very much appricated.

On a better note i have been told, i can have a part share of an allotment with a rather large poly tunnel

    Cheers

Where are they, that is what are they growing in? Kale and rocket are hardier than tomatoes and chillies, and also need less heat to germinate which is why they have shown first.

What, all in the same seed tray, or in individual pots?

Kale and rocket don't need the extra heat, and anyway you should get the seedlings out of the prop as soon as they appear (or else they'll go weak & leggy)

mmmmm ok should i put them in smaller pots and leave them on a sunny windowsill better buy a few pots this lunch time then.

We're all still learning Jim, even if we've been at it for years! Hope you get a good harvest.

I sow my chilli, tomato and pepper seeds 5 seeds per 3 and a half inch half pot in the heated propagator. As soon as they have germinated they come out onto the windowsill and stay there until they are big enough to be potted on individually into their own pots. It's not a good idea to mix different varieties or types of seeds in one container because they all have different germination times and growing needs.

Kale and rocket shouldn't need to be in a heated propagator.
