  • Advice Please

    Hi Guys,

I have tried to plant some herbs and going to possibly branch out further just got to plant me seeds hopefully this weekend.

I know what i have done too many seeds in one pot.

My question is are they too young to seperate out into there own pots.

Once i have a image that is the correct size i will uploaded it

Hello NoviceJim and welcome! Can you tell us what seeds you have planted and how big are the seedlings? Do they have leaves yet?

        Hi VeggieChicken,

Thanks for the reply. I would upload a image but it is too large.

Yes they have leaves and about 5-6cm in size a rough guess its a mixture of basil and Parsley.

You could split the seedlings into little clumps and pot those up. If you think about Supermarket pots of growing herbs, like basil and parsley, they are always tightly packed into the pot and meant for using as they are, not planting out. However, I just move them into a larger pot and let them grow on. If there are a lot of plants, I split them before planting them out.
Try it! If it fails, basil and parsley seedlings should germinate quickly now that the warmer weather is on its way.

They will be fine in those pots for a good few weeks yet. I know it's a dark photo, but try to keep them on the dry side of damp, not the wet side.

How often would you water them, good was worried i had cramped the little guys in.

Lift up the pot - if it's heavy, then it's fine. If it's light, then it needs watering.. Let me find a post by Two_Sheds about this!
