  • Three Good Things

    My Nan used to say, if you're having a bad day, try and find three good things about whatever is making you unhappy and things won't seem so bad. So, as you might have noticed this week, Chez Apple, has been a bit bad. So here are my Three Good Things;

New shoots.....on my honeysuckle bought from the GC's sick bay.

New boots....posh ones I got for Christmas, first airing today.

First signs of Spring in the pond!

What are your Three Good Things?

Coffee. Garden. Coffee. Does a good morning need anything else?

Seeing the bluetits checking out the nestboxes
Being serenaded by a blackbird and a robin all day as I gardened in the sun
Receiving some sweet potato shoots from a very kind Grape!

There are more Good Things but 3 is enough to share!

Well we went trout fishing today, so three good things are - 3 lovely trout to eat!!! Also, saw little egret and daft grebes on the lake scaring the fish and getting us exicited when we thought they were trout rising!

P.S. how did you get your Rosemary to root? I have cuttings in a jar of water on the windowsill...
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!

          Waking up this morning.
Saying no to many proposals of marriage.
Seeing the lovely smile on someones face, when i gave them two pots of daffs.

Alright, the second one was wishful thinking.......
          God bless all of us.

I took heal cuttings early September pushed them into a pot of compost/sand mix then left them in the unheated greenhouse overwinter.

              Okay here goes
Being woken up to the sound of Mr Wren singing his little heart out
Seeing my first white camellia bloom - I hadn't realised the buds were that far out!
Aaaand - getting a message from one of my favourite grapes to say she is coming to see me and we can get plotting and planning our seed sowing
              Saved the best till last!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Spending some quality time with Mr OWG this morning. We had to be in Liverpool for 4 hours, and spent the time having a nice brekkie in a cafe, meandering round the shops and just being together

                Home-made egg mayonnaise on toast

Seeing that the grass is finally struggling though the mud in the chicken run

Poorly african grey parrot who nearly died last week back on form and chatting away.
A whole day just for me today
