  • Our well is BONE DRY!

I know there's a threat of a drought- so we've been looking into buying a pump for our well- to water our veg over the summer months.

Yesterday my OH dropped a stone down into it..and 'THUD'....erm...wasn't that meant to go 'SPLASH'???

Got a torch only to see the bone dry bottom of the well 11meters down!
We nipped next doors ( slightly up hill) and asked how his well is doing as he uses it in his loo etc...his is deeper and the that too is nearly empty- just a foot or so left.

Flipping heck- unless we have a sopping wet March/April it's going to cost us a fortune watering some of our crops.

More water butts needed me thinks????

I've never had to water the garden in Feb before, but we're now having to siphon the bath water onto the back garden because the snowdrops & primroses are collapsing.

The water butts (4) are half full and I haven't really planted anything yet. It's not looking promising for any rain soon either

      Flippin Heck! That's bad.

It rained here yesterday afternoon and last night. We get our water from Wales anyway. Don't know what the water situation is there at the moment. I'll google it.

According to Welsh Water reservoir levels are at 98%.

Doesn't help you guys though does it.

It's reall dry here too. There's talk that the taps will be turned off at the lottie so folk are filling their water butts up just in case...kind of defeats the object but I think I'll be borrowing a hose to do just that.

I had a soak in our bath last night 2sheds after a heavy day in the garden.
I did think about siphoning it off onto the flower bed but I don't normally do that until June/ until July.
          I just poured it away.
          Shame on me.

Looks like I'll need to make more of an effort!
