  • Im feeling poorly all over :-(

I ended up at the doctors last and I have laryngitis; pharyngitis and traecaitis (i cant even spell that last one!!) My whole throat system is so sore and swollen as well as ear ache and a temperature and not only that I have thrush in my mouth (lord only knows how) so he said due to the thrush and because of my m.e hes not giving me any anti-biotics because its itis's are viral and not bacterial so they will just go if i have complete voice and bed rest and if he gives me the AB's it will just make my M.E a tonne worse - damn these new age hippy doctors So im just have to keep up with pain killers and naproxen

Its half term poor boo is going to have a miserable time though i might pay her to do some housework

Don't know how old your lil one is but if you turn housework into a game Boo might play along.

Sorry you feel so rubbish. My niece gets thrush in her mouth when she's run down, seems to have started since she had her tonsils out.

How old is your little one? It's horrid, when you've been looking forward to the holiday, to then be too poorly to enjoy it. Is there anyone who could have her for a while, let you rest and recover and hopefully manage to enjoy the last bit of the week.

      Get well soon. xx

Oh BoosMum, I do feel sorry for you. Some info here Oral Thrush - Adults - NHS Choices about thrush in the mouth. Rest up and be kind to yourself. Hot honey and lemon drinks may help a bit with the rest of the problems.

Natural yoghurt and strawberries. Boost your immune system with lots of water and lemon, fresh squeezed, vitamin C tablets (effervescent ones in a tube). Give it five days!

Try gargling (don't swallow) with soluble asprin. It's a local anaesthetic and may ease the pain in your throat. Feel better soon!

Gargle with mouth wash, it's great for upper throat & mouth problems

Not sure whether the things I use for a sore throat are
                      a) suitable for you or
                      b) appropriate for this problem
but might be worth asking your doc whether they would be OK
Dequacaine deadens the pain, they also taste rather like the lemon-and-honey sweets you can buy for sore throats (but these ones actually work, because they contain a powerful local anaesthetic).
It's not something to recommend in any but drastic situations, but maybe....

The thrush will be causing the pain and sugar will feed it. Yoghurt of a natural nature will clear it. Yeasts should be avoided at all costs, as should sugar. A salt wash will clean it but not clear it. There is something in strawberries that clear it too, can't remember what it is though.

Not if it's got that sodium laureth sulphate (sp?) in it, it can cause mouth problems in some people

Corsodyl is usually prescribed for mouth soreness, but it's on the harsh side
