    Smug

    I'm sory - i just can't help it........

    Tescos are selling little butternut squash - not quite 6 inches long - at ONE POUND each. From China.

    I planted five plants last year - (seeds about £2.50 from T&M) and had two large (Tesco) polybags that are still supplying us.

    And two were as big as rugby balls

    You have all right to feel smug!! When I am buying seeds my partner starts rolling his eyes as they seem quite expensive, but if you think how expensive vegetables are - not to mention organic veg -I feel it's completely justified buying the seeds

      You can feel smug on another count too - my butternut squash plants (that I bought) just withered away, and I don't think I'm the only one who failed with these last year. Maybe this year.

        GOOD FOR YOU,this only 1 of many reasons to grow your own,apart from the pleasure,i did well this year with squasthey had the odd sprinkle of chicken poo pellets,and watered only with saved rain water,time will tell if it was a fluke lol,
        sigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these
