I usually put mine out in March/ April time .........then I have to fleece cos we get problems with allium leaf miner . I may wait till the end of April this year and see what happens .......S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

Depends where you are to some extent. I usually go for the middle of March then fleece the containers, just in case. In the mean time I would spread them out somewhere cool and light to stop them sprouting.

depentent on if you have undercover shelter,like cold frame or green house,hang on till middle of feb,then simply push the sets into compost,either moduals or trays,they then get of to a good start developing their root system,then when you have green leaves atop,you can put them in the ground,by this time it will be endish of march,and all will be well,also gives you extra time to get your ground readysigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these

I put my onion sets in my raised beds in November along with my garlic and they are doing really well. My raised bed is in a very sheltered position but I also covered my onions with a cloche. they are a type of shallot and the instructions were to plant Nov/Dec for July/August cropping.Comment

Bexy,look out for some wood you could bang or screw together for a frame,cover with plastic ,and tie it close to the ground,so you end up with a big cloch,just make sure you leave plenty of spare said plastic so you can hold it down with bricks or anything heavy,where theirs a will,you will find a way,try having a google for home made cold frames,garden frames,cloches ,ext,you might be supprisedsigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of theseComment
