    It makes you stop and think

    We all moan and rant about our kids.......I did tonight about the state of the bathroom , but then I thought about some news I heard today and thought to myself .....In the grand scheme of things does it really matter?
    The news I heard today was that one of my youngests friends (an ex bf) and another died yesterday in a car smash ......what a senseless waste of two young lives.
    My heart goes out to his family ......

    A messy bathroom is a minor detail...........

    Yes, that happened locally to two people that a young friend of mine went to school with. It was a couple of years ago, and they were all in their late teens, larking around and having fun. The driver of the car they were travelling in, survived, but the other three met horrific deaths. I suspect the driver will be scarred for life in more ways than one. Truly awful. You have my sympathy.

      I lost my best friend at 24 years, the same way. Dreadful news Bins. I love my two everyday even though they have their moments. We are blessed to have them.

        You can't replace anyone once they're gone, and they can disappear from your life in an instant. Its easy to criticise your OH or your family but when they're taken away from you, by accident or illness, believe me, you'll regret that you ever criticised them.
        There are so many public rants on here about family that it makes me really sad. Value what you have. Their good points always outweigh the bad.

          How true, we all say things in the heat of the moment, but on reflection, most things pall into insignifigance when faced with something like this........

            When you are wakened in the middle of the night to be asked by a policeman to confirm what kind of car my son had because it had been discovered badly damaged after a crash into some trees and to be told there was no sign of anyone at the scene, it scares the life out of you and the relief when you discover afterwards that the little toe rag is safe is almost palpable. It is truly awful and that is when they are safe. I couldn't begin to have an idea of how bad it feels when there is a tragedy.

              Sometimes though it is good to let off steam on here so I can be calmer and more loving when they come home!
              It is easy to forget though how quickly these dreadful things can happen

                Yes I agree. Things like this are a wake up call, but I like to think the odd confidential rant to a mate or an anon internet friend who doesnt really know me or anything about me is a good thing. Without it you might actually take your bad mood out on your loved ones only to lose them without making up?

                  I agree with you Fi .........I'm just glad to have them to let steam off over but it makes you realise that when push comes to shove you'd rather a messy bathroom than a spotless one ( if you get what I mean)

                    Never go to bed on an argument! It's important to say it and get it gone. Back to Bin's post though - there are parents tonight living a nightmare. Time to give all of our's an extra kiss.

                        Its good to sometimes be thankful for what we have ( I am not meaning religiously here) and reflect on the good things.

                        If I am not too tired, (which is unusual these days) when I go to bed, I make myself comfy and try to think of five good things that have happened to me during the day - it could be something minor eg. watching the rabbit episode of Father Ted just now, which always makes me laugh....or perhaps something silly like my daughter mispronouncing melon and lemon...just something to make me feel good and content with what I have....

                        Just a thought

                          I agree. I wake up every day and say thank you to whoever that me and mine are safe and well. I'm so sorry you've had such sad news, Bins. Hugs to all who are suffering.
