Well it is when we can shift the large heat-sink from in front of it...bloomin' German Shepherds. LOL.
We have even been known to knock off the lights and sit just by firelight on odd occasions. That is just bliss. The flicker and change of flames almost sends you into a trance.

I can always remember, not long after we moved into the village, being told by a local woman that central heating softened you. I can remember telling her that I was more than ready to be softened.

I remember the post war years of ice patterns on the inside of the bedroom windows. Just being so cold. The morning flit across the lino to the bathroom to get a wash -more of a lick and a promise.

As opposed to the central heating being on, lovely warm shower, and into a warm towel to dry.

                  No contest.

                        Nope. Not yet. Too tight!

It's chuffin' cold in here in the mornings, but heat seems to be stored in here during the day, so it's not too bad in the evenings. I've had a good soak in the bath, and a large dinner, and have a fleece on over my jammies.

                        It won't be long though..

Crickey.. I had my heating on for a week, non-stop last winter.. Then let it rest fr 4 hrs ver night

I've put ours on manually in the evenings for the family, but if I were alone I'd put a couple f layers on and do push ups or something

No central heating until November! Evening log fires and maybe, if I'm feeling weak-willed, an oil heater in the bedroom for half an hour before bed. The electric blanket is on, of course, I'm not that hardy. Just come in from a walk so the house feels really warm. The stars tonight are quite heavenly!!
