Have had four Dysons and found them to be rubbish. Now have a Sebo and love it!

Bought a cheap bagless Samsung 2000W upright off ebay - was a refurb with 30 days warrenty, paid �38...bargain. Works really well, has one of those extendable hoses and attachments.

That's a bit minty VVG, I think my Hoover Pet bagless one was a bargain offer at about �50 on Amazon around Christmas time a couple of years ago and it does a good job.

Keep saving for a Dyson, I have had mine for 10 years, would not use anything else. I have tried others at people's houses etc and it is Syson all the way. We even got a reconditioned one a few years back for spares, as we had had to repplace bits of ours as this way they are much cheaper.

Not an upright but I have a Henry (which is bagless) - had it for 15 years and it still works perfectly.

there's a bloke round here who sells refurbed dysons. I've got one, cost 20 quid, and it sucks like you wouldn't believe.
Is there no-one who does the same kind of thing there?

I don't rate Dys*n vacuums either. I have a 'Yorkie' it is an industrial version of the Henry/Charlie. I don't like uprights. Y*rkleen is the name of the manufacturer, and, surprisingly, I think they're in York! No idea what it cost, but we've had it around 15 years. I would recommend them to everyone, as my Mum's first one lasted 20 years, and prior to this make, she would kill a vacuum cleaner in 6 months!

Don't rate Dyson either. My mates had two and they were both rubbish.
We got a Vax bagless cylinder for about �45 in Netto. It's excellent. But the filter isn't washable, we brush it out, which means that if you are looking for bagless cos of an allergy, it's better to get something with a washable one.

Oh dear we have an old Hoover Junior which is at least 35 years old. I can still get spares for it, and it is still doing sovereign service,

We also have an old Vax which is +/- 30 years old.

Both are in very good working order, and we are very pleased with them.

On the other hand the Dyson machines do not have a very good reputation locally. Whilst we have had these reliable old machines for years, the Dysons have not fared so well. In fact they don't get a very good press locally. Very unreliable.

The reason why I would NEVER EVER buy a Dyson cleaner is because he had a wonderful, loyal workforce in Swindon, but the greedy bu**er didn't think being a multimillionaire he was earning enough, and decided to move production from England to the middle east.

We have a bagless vax cylinder. We've found that the filters can be washed , in fact need to be washed every so often else it rolls over and plays dead.

I use an upright Dys*ns at a little cleaning job i do and it drive me nuts, it's not very easy to manipulate (it's a football headed one so suppose to be the easiest in the world), I can't get into all the nooks and crannies, or clean the stairs properly 'cos the attachments just aren't designed right.

I use a good old H*nry hoover, the brand with a face. Its not bagless but it only reduces suck when the bag needs changing, mine has a 21 metre flex so I only have plug it in once, i've dropped it down stairs, tipped it over and my daughter has ridden it like a horse and it's still going strong after 6 years. I've used it to clean everything from sawdust / brick rubble to �3K+ ancient rugs. I recommend them to all of my cleaning clients because they're simply brilliant imho. Compact, tough, totally versatile and normally less than �100.

We bought a vax mach 4 around 4 years ago, absolutely brilliant, brilliant machine!!
think it was around �60-70 at the time, free six year warranty, in fact i broke a part underneath it (totally my fault) their customer services was excellent, a new part out in the post the next day, i felt much more confident in their customer services than with dyson.
We had an old dyson the dyson didnt seem anywhere near as powerful or to keep the suction as well.

I have a D'son, have had three over the years -
When they are good they are very good,
when they are bad - oh boy they are bad .....expensive, frustrating, annoying.... and on, and on, and on.... BUT
They are still FAB for our lifestyle - pets, plots, cats, renovations etc. They have fantastic suction, but are, I think over priced and prone to silly failings.
Also, If you have had any experience of the kiddies toys 'Transformers' you will have a head start with a D'son

press part A
twist part B
turn part C
pull out part D
press part E..............

just to change the tool! dont ask how you put it back.
