  • Newbie Question - Radish

    Hi all,

My wife and I are new to growing veg. The first crop to harvest from our little plot was radish, however when we pulled a few up we noticed that some bug had beaten us to the juciest ones.

Can anyone please advise what has attacked them and how we go about preventing this in the future.

    Thanks

First guess would be slugs/snails lots of blue pellets will help.

Thanks for responding so quickly Colin.

I've not actually seen any evidence of slugs/snails so was thinking that maybe there was something more sinister luking, but I'll put some slug repellent down and maybe cover with netting next time we try these.

      Cheers

Slugs can actually be underground so you won't see them until they surface to start raiding your crop.

It looks a lovely radish Mike, but the slugs got to it before you did. You'll find lots of suggestions for deterrents on here, but I don't think anything is 100% successful.
