I desperately need to pot on a white cuke .. I'd forgotten about it in the greenhouse - found a fruit on it. Argh. May harvest it now (3" long) as loads more are on their way.. then repot it! I suspect the moment I do it'll die

Or........ hmm just a thought I may just stick the pot in a larger pot of compost so the roots can grow through the bottom and downward, as they're already matted beneath the pot through the holes!

Why not just take a stanley knife and cut out the bottom of the pot off altogether, and then do as you say you'll do, and put the pot it into another bigger pot

The roots are too matted around the holes - I'd damage them by trying to pull 'em out..

I'm not expecting it to survive, but the bloomin' thing just keeps on growing!

Well how about cutting away the sides of the pot and then planting the root ball WITH pot bottom. That way new roots could grow out sideways?

Got some good news to report, all the re-potted cucumber plants are coming along just fine, and I'm getting new growth on them all, sort of spiky shoots coming from them, so by the looks of it, the re-potting has worked, thanks everyone

Can someone tell me, went into the garden this morning, and the plants have nice yellow flowers, I take it that is a good sign for the fruit of the plants, they are growing like wildfire, one in particular is doing exceptionally well, but does that mean I can now look forward to fruit now growing

TM, this is where it can get confusing. First yes yellow flowers are a very good sign you should find small cucs behind some or maybe all of them.

If its an all female variety you will find cucs behind all the flowers and you need do nothing else but wait and feed.

Other varieties have both female and male flowers (the males have no mini cucs just a stem). The problem is that some vareities require the male flowers removing whilst others require they are left on.
