  • Another rhubarb question

    Hi,

Sorry for another rhubarb question! Apologies also if this is an obvious questions but I'm completely new to all this growing business.

Earlier this year I planted two new rhubarb plants which seemed to be settling in well and produced 2-3 stems each which I left on the plant. These have died down and both plants now have 2-3 leaves but with only a 1-2cm stem. The leaves aren't large but have spread out so I guess they are as big as they are going to get.

Having looked through the previous post on rhubarb I'm thinking the lack of long stems might be due to them not getting enough water. (It's been very very dry here recently). Does this sound likely or is there something else I should be looking at?

Any advice would be really gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cat

When there is not enough rain even established plants can die right back. They will recover as soon as they get water so get the watering can out.
