  • what comes next?

now i realise this may seem like a strange question, but as with most things, i'm sure someone will have a simple answer somewhere... where can i find a simple guide that tells me what i can sow and when? for example what can i sow now, that i can harvest in the autumn/winter? I just havent quite managed to get my little brain around the planning ahead side of things...im sure this will come with time and experience, i am just a little concerned that we are so excited about whats happening right now!...but once the summer planting/harvesting is done..i just don't want to lose momentum! x

The best advice I got on here, when I started (apart from 'get Chickens' which was a mistake, as I now have over thirty of the little fluffy chuffers!) was; Plant what you like to eat!

So, bearing in mind I'm on the Atkins Diet (carb-free) I've just planted over a hundred SPUDS!!!! LOL

Now you know why I always greet people with; Welcome to the Madhouse!

What is also really helpful is to keep your seeds in a monthly planner thingie: so you can pull out all of May's seeds and see what you need to sow. Any that can be sown again (for successive crops) can then be put back into June, or July, and so on

Twosheds the monthly planner file is a stroke of genius! At the moment I have 3 bags of seeds:sown, to be sown, and will be sown repeatedly. But having a monthly thing would be so much easier!

The "What I did Today" thread is a mine of information about what other people are sowing and growing.
