  • Some pics of progress in 'poly' anything look right/wrong ?

Lo all, I know that I like to see pics of others progress so I thought I'd post mine.

At the same time , I thought if anything looks like it isnt quite right then I would welcome comment. I know my carrotts will need thinning major league and was wondering if I can let them get to the little carrott stage and re plant the ones I need to thin out instead of ripping out and wasting them. I know last time I pulled up a seedling there was a micro carrott at the bottom and I thought you could plant that.

I was going to plant a newly dug ' empty bed' with more carrott seeds but im thinking plant the ones I need to thin out in to it ?. The empty bed is a good foot deep as I did it with root veg in mind. Also do the strawberries look O.K ? , they have plenty of flowers on but im thinking will they need taking ut of the pots.

    Cheers Mas

I'd pot the strawberry's on into bigger pot or even into a bed if you have space for one. I've never tried to replant carrots but I don't think it would do any harm to try, as you said...why waist them.

If you damage the root of a seedling carrot at all, it will fork. That is why replanting thinning isn't recommended.

It looks good to me, mine isn't nearly so tidy

I think I would replant the strawberries too, so they have more space to grow

            HI

I tried an experiment with my thinned parsnips last year and replanted them. Some works okay with no forking but others did. I say, try it and if they fork then you have not really lost anything by trying. (parsnips, carrots both roots veg so most probably the same chance of success)

Don't waste your carrot thinnings, wash them and add them to salads.
It was dark. And cold. And very, very empty.

And in the middle of all of the dark, cold, emptiness lay something darker, and colder, but very, very full.
