  • how new do we have to be..... ?

Just wondering how long we can call ourselves new shoots? After just 3 seasons as a gardener i`m starting to get to grips with what i`m doing but
i find the size and scope of the main GYO forum kind of scary which puts me off posting there. I like it in here, but exactly when do i stop being a new shoot?

Whenever you feel like you're ready No-one's going to be shouting "Oi! You've been in here too long!"

Don't worry though, we don't bite out there

It's a state of mind, I think. I've been growing Veg., haphazardly, for about three seasons now, and still consider myself a total novice. However, I often find I can offer advice to others, based on my experiences, so, like I say, it's all down to how you see yourself.

Feel free to join in the Chat thread, for a natter, and a virtual cuppa or tipple. It'll help you gain your confidence - well, it did for me; some days I just don't shut up!

Be brave and venture out into the rest of the Vine blito. No doubt there are somethings that others know more about than you do, but equally that is bound to be something where you know more than others do (that made perfect sense in my head - hope it does in writing!)

I never really stuck to specific sections of the Vine, I just press 'New Posts' and read what I'm interested in, skip what I'm not, learn a lot and impart a little knowledge here and there.

Hope to see you posting elsewhere very soon .

I'm still at the beginner stage where I'm asking questions rather than giving out advice, but everyone I've encountered here is extremely helpful and friendly, there's no need to be nervous about "venturing out"! Hopefully with everything I'm learning here and putting into practice in the garden, next year I might be able to contribute something which helps someone, somewhere ...

I dip in and out too mainly in my lunch hour at work. When I think of a question I need to ask, I check the archives and usually find the answer there so never need to actually post anything :-(

I have sometimes posted things knowing the quesiton has already beed asked but it's good to get involved.

I have also posted some news and photos on my new GH and attempts at getting a lottie plot just to keep my name out there and because the current Mrs P can only feign interst for so long!!
