  • Autumn/Winter growing?

Are there any things I can grow that will do well in the Autumn/Winter. I have grown veg all summer in pots but now most things are done I am left with a wealth of empty pots. I would loce to keep growing things for the autumn and winter months but wonder if it is too late? Is there anything I can grow and is it from seed or from pre-bought plants?

So far from it I am getting winter onions, potatos and I already know that you can plant sprouts and cabbage in winter. Can you plant carrots turnips and other tubers for winter and autumn growing? And Broccolli and Cauliflower?

It's too late to be sowing winter veg: it nearly is winter and the days are rapidly getting shorter (I planted out some cabbage & leeks last week that I found lurking in my greenhouse, but I don't expect much from them)

Too late to sow carrots too, but Japanese onion sets, radish and winter lettuce can go in now, as can green manures, and Aquedulce broad beans can be sown in Oct/Nov

Have a look here for seeds: What to Sow and Grow in September

I am planting some garlic in October as well as over wintering broad beans. I have been making loads of last-minute sowings of Lamb's lettuce and turnips (for greens not roots... delicious in stir-frys).
