  • Spud bug - good or bad?

I have this spider and her offspring growing on my spuds in my plastic greenhouse. Are they good or bad?
    Help appreciated!
    Mal.

Hi Mal, welcome to the vine. I don't think spiders are a problem (although I'm not sure I would like that many around me!!)
I just wondered why the potatoes were still in the growhouse. I take it they are in a container?
They would probably be better off outside. What are they by the way, earlies, mids or lates (if lates then inside may well prevent them getting blighted, or perhaps that's why you've done it eh?

Hi Mal, you have your very own Charlotte's web. The spider and her babies won't harm your crops at all, but as Sanjo says spuds don't really need to be in the greenhouse.

        Thank you for the replies!

The spuds are in my cheep Lidl greenhouse because I noticed that stuff grew faster in there. Alas, the darn spuds (maris piper) grew so fast that they grew through the mesh shelving and I can't move them. I think I put about 4 tubers in a bag of compost and kept covering the emerging foliage with more compost.

Thanks for your help with the spiders!
        Mal.

          Spiderlings, bless.
You'll be watering the spuds 12 times a day, in a greenhouse.
