Can much money be made from growing trees and flowers?

    Can much money be made from growing trees and flowers?

    Are the seeds a lot cheaper than smalll trees? Does it take much effort?

    Is it too late to grow trees from seeds in UK, I am thinking of trying Japanese maple trees.

      I grew a Japanese Maple from seed. It was about 5 years before it made 2ft 6".
      Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

        I think most people on here don't grow things for the money, Nick, because they will never make a profit. The enjoyment comes from trying things out and making things grow. Japanese maple are a lovely plant and if you can grow one from seed, all the better. I would sow seeds in the autumn - the same way nature does.
        Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

          I don't grow for profit but I think it is profitable.

          Well I bought some seeds for trees so if I can't get much money from them I could donate them to some park or something.

              I love Japanese Maple!

              We have two which we brought over in tubs from the UK.
              I was really sad to leave 3 in the garden as there were well established- and I didn't fancy digging them up because each one had either a dead cat or bunny buried underneath.
              I got the trees as a memory of our lovely pets!

              They are really, really expensive over here so I'm glad I brought the two in pots.
              One is a red and the other a green - both have the feathery leaves
              What variety are you planting???

              ( bet you could sell them on e-bay!)

                like others said, i don't grow for profit except in the sense i don't pay extortionate supermarket prices for my veg.
                I suppose if you have enough land and time to plant these and leave them to grow for a couple of years or so, then there is a market for it.
                Lots of people will pay to have a 2-3 year old plant or tree to put in their manicured gardens.
                Personally, I like the thrill of the germination and nurturing myself.
