    School Needs Seeds

    Our school has a veggie plot that is in need of some seeds for this season.

    Almost anything will be welcomed. I think that sweetcorn pumpkins and other fun stuff would be ideal. Ground is a bit soggy - but even carrots have done well in the past.

    The plot is right next to an area that is to become a wildlife area and living willow sculpture zone next term so it all forms part of a wildlife corridor.

    I can spare you some strawberry popcorn seeds if you like. PM me your address and I'll send them over. I'll have a rummage and see if there is anything in my seed box that kids would like. Got some seeds saved from the Halloween pumpkin too.

            Johnty, try local garden centres and see if they will donate - either that or write to some of the seed companies.

                They do schemes for schools and may be able to help with seeds. Worth a try. They also have a fab visitor centre for children called The Vegetable Kingdom.

                    If you're quick, you could apply for some of the Gardeners World hanging basket seeds at www.bbc.co.uk/gardenersworld. There are some pepper and tom seeds amongst them and free is free.
                    Otherwise, like someone has already said, approach local garden centres etc. I'm a teacher and a year ago I wrote to B&Q and got a grant for developing our garden area a bit. I think we got around £400, so worth a try! But any of your local DIY/garden centres should be open to maybe giving you a bit, especially if you say you'll give them a mention (or even a plaque in the garden) in the school newsletter or whatever.
