  • Hollyhocks? diseased?

    Hello,

I bought a little plant last year nothing much came of it so its just sat in its pot over winter untill it sprung into life recently.

I think if I can remember it may be a hollyhocks?

Its got an odd what looks like fungus on most of its leaves - I trimmed most of them off and frsh leaves are growing but I wondered if anyone knows what it is so I can treat it.

    Many Thanks

Hollyhock rust. It happens to all mine. Apparently a side-effect of having cleaner air. I cut the lower leaves off when they get bad.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Mine has it too, I've taken off the bottom leaves and the new growth seems okay. I would plant it out now, mine sown last year are giant now, they have gone crazy since planting out.

Mine get the rust every year, I do the same, remove the lower leaves, but it still seems to spread upwards, it doesn't stop them flowering though, but just a bit bare down below.
