  • A roe zarch?

I bought two roe zarches ages ago with the view of growing 'things' up them but never have. One of them is yet to venture out of its box.

They're only cheap roe zarches - the ones you assemble yourself from the various tubes and screws included in the pack.

Now, I finally bought a rose (Dublin Bay) at the weekend and planted it as the foot of one of the roe zarches. Will it be enough to have one rose, or should I plant something at the foot of the other end? For balance like.

        How wide is the arch?
Will you be walking through it???....if so I'd be tempted to grow something like a clematis so you can veer away from the rose thorns!!

It's about *holds arms out* this wide.

Clematis it is then - am I too late for that?

I'm going to have to duck aren't I?

          Forethought.

I always get greedy HW and plant a rose and a clematis together - double the flowers.

ETA - they are still in the GC and supermarkets - pot grown. Just plant them deeper than the crown and feed them this year.
Or you could try roses and honeysuckle. Bootiful.

That's my Sweet Peezarch (the one still in the box) and will probably grow that near the gate.

That's why it's on the plot, not in the garden.

Did anyone else as a kid take off rose thorns and stick them on their nose and pretend to be a rhinoceros?

Seriously, if you 'snap' a rose thorn off the stem, you can lick the flat end and stick it on your nose. Instant rhinoplasty.
