  • Beware lillies

Spotted my first lily beetle of the season - poor lillies are hardly 2 inches tall

Needless to say I introduced it to the sole of my shoe!

(shush) many of my lilies are starting to appear. I'm afraid to say it but,I have never seen a lily beetle (so far)

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

Had a quick look at mine yesterday, and proceeded to pick off and squash hundreds of the b****y things. Lost count at 20 . Found another three this morning. Only got a small patch of 6 lillies too! Very tempted to go the spray with nasty chemicals route, but am resisting for the moment .

don't forget that they love to eat fritillaries, too, as I learnt through bitter experience last year

I've given up trying to grow lilies, it's pointless. I pick off all the beetles and larvae I can find, but there are too many
