Are you growing in spent mushroom compost by any chance? We had a flush of this fungus over our woodland area in the Autumn just after we mulched it.

I get those in my maturing horse poo stack. Always wondered what kind they were.

What type of compost is it????

It does indeed look like Jew's Ear - and it does indicate the compost is over-wet. Let it dry out and you shouldn't have too much fungus problem.

We visited a friend at the weekend who has just moved into her new flat. She has those* growing on her wall (inside and out).

                    Yes, I have told her.

                    *fungi, not sweet peas.

I'm using the god sent B&Q multi purpose compost. The sweet peas are on a rack outside the greenhouse hence the wet tubes. Thanks for your input everyone
