  • Agave plants

My big badass Agave keeps having children and at present there are 2 or 3 very small youngsters in need of a good home.

Being succulents they cope well with drought and are pretty much maintenance free. I plant them in pots of soil based compost mixed with grit and chuck them out into the garden from May till the threat of frosts and then over winter them in an unheated greenhouse.

These plants are only a couple of inches across and would love a windowsill to live on for the first year till they have bulked out some.

Pm me if you want one.

Morning PW. I just googled to find out what one of these was and guess what - it is the plant my elder son (16 today) brought me from a school bazaar some years ago!!! Always wondered what it was!!! Thanks for enlightening me and hope you find good homes for your babies. Do you just part them and pot up the new ones? I have been wondering what to do with mine as it is starting to outgrow its pot.
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

I repotted mine this autumn Shirl and found 4 babies under the surface of the compost waiting to get out. I just cut them off with a bit of root and potted them up.

Result, a potential agave forest, not quite enough to make tequila with, but enough to give a few away.
