I am going to grow potatoes in tubs this year (and an old sunken bath!) Id like to know if anyone knows were I can get small quantities of seed potatoes, Im after about 8 altogether, 4 earlies and 4 second earlies.
Any advice would be great thanks.

Janey you want to find a potato day near you so that you can buy individual tubers.
There is a thread on here about the subject.
    Potato videos here.

Our local garden centre sells seed potatoes by weight - yours might too?

Aside from potato days, I'm sure I saw in onew of the seed catalogues this year as supplier selling a 'taster pack', with a few from each variety.

Thompson and Morgan sell potatoes in small quantities - from 5 tubers a pack. They are rather expensive bought this way, however, though you should be able to get a few tubers from gardening friends.

Wilkinsons did packs of 5 last year of several varieties.

Do you have, or live near, an allotment? Our allotment shop is selling seed potatoes at 70p-80p a kilo, our neighbourng allotment shop sells to gardeners as well as allotment holders, you have to join the association first but you'd be hard pushed to get better prices for most things.

They're more expensive than buying bulk, and I can't vouch for the quality, but Homebase do small packs of seed potatoes in the very general varieties, as well as some more interesting ones!

Please add your location to your profile. It really helps the rest of us. Local potato days are really good, as you can buy as few or as many of different varieties as you want.

A local florist / minor garden supplier does a small selection of seed potatoes sold by weight, just take as many as you want, but if I remember right last year had a choice of Pink Fir Apple and one other.
Small packs of seed pots are relatively expensive and on mail order p&p adds quite a bit too, but Thomson and Morgan often have a free p&p special offer around Christmas. Unfortunately you have just missed the 2009 one but it's worth keeping an eye out this year.

                              Potato variety Heather

Hi, I am looking for this variety, which my sister grew two years ago, but which is now discontinued. I wonder if anyone still has any I could grow. Even one tuber in poor condition would be a start. Thanks
