  • Non Flowering Bulbs

Some friends of mine planted a mixture of summer flowering bulbs in their garden at the end of May. They were hoping to see some flowers (according to the packet) sometime between June/July to September. So far the only sign of life has been some green leaves but no flowers at all. There is a horse chesnut tree in the same area as the bulbs. Could this have any effect on the problem or is there any other possible reason why bulbs don't flower?

They possibly may not have been planted deep enough, and dried out. Or they may not have been big/mature enough to flower (a risk with Poundshop-type bulbs)
