  • Tip cuttings - how do I do it ??

I have 2 lovely margarite's in large pots in the sunshine. They are such a statement of summer I'd like to have some more of them from these plants and I've been told I need to take tip cuttings which I havent done before, so how do I do this ?

I have actually taken some stem cuttings (like when you do a chrysanthamum) but i'd like some help with a tip cutting please.

    thanks

Eh.. um... Dont know. Its just white with a yellow centre usually a smallish pot plant or sometimes trained as a standard.

As its a pot plant, guess it's Argyranthemum which is not completely hardy so cuttings are a good way to keep it through the winter as well as increasing the numbers.

You really need non-flowering shoots which can be hard to find sometimes as everything runs to flower. Tip cuttings could be 1-2in long and tend to be rather soft so benefit from the old white plastic bag over the pot trick. They should root quite quickly in compost with some added grit or perlite

        Good Luck

Yep, I agree with Lovage. Just treat them like a fuchsia cutting and take loads ... you can always give them away but you get to keep the best ones then
