      Gosh!!!..well done!

will you take it to a restaurant to get it ID'd????

You've just reminded me that a few years ago there was a guy here on the Vine who was into fungus- and he said you could buy trees impregnated with truffle fungus. The only reason I didn't buy one was because we had loads of squirrels in the garden- and they'd eat them all!

I'll see if I can find the info again!

Enjoy your find- they don't keep fresh for long do they????

errrr... not seen one, but... don't truffles grow underground?
I heard somewhere (TV prog?) of a man who taught his dog to find truffles by using tiny pieces in a game of 'fetch' (not sure of the details. I would have though you would need to 'flavour' a fetch-toy with truffle).

It does look awfully like a doggy-doings! Never eaten truffle so I don't know what it smells like. (NOT doggy doings I imagine!)
