Hawkshead Fuchsia

    Hawkshead Fuchsia

    Last summer I ordered 3 Hawkshead Fuchsia's from T&M like these Fuchsia Hawkshead (Plants and Bulbs) and waited over 6 months for them to be delivered. They did arrive in April and they are growing well and have just come into flower. You will see on the T&M site it is a lovely small white flower and it is described as "This beautiful rare bush variety boasts dark green leafy sprays hung with dainty flowers of white suffused with a trace of green at the tip"

    The problem is that now it's started to flower in 100% obvious that this is not the Fuchsia I bought (see attached photo). I've contacted T&M to see what they have to say about it, but I am really disapponted. I could have bought an established plant last year and taken my own cuttings. Now it looks like I'll be waiting until next year - assuming T&M will replace them!

    I would be interested to know what I do have if there are any Fuchsia experts out there!

    That is not a white fuchsia.
    T&M customer service is rubbish.

    Don't waste time emailing them, they don't reply.
    Write a real letter on real paper.

      I'll do that. It's a nice plant, huge flowers but not what I wanted. I could kick myself now as I saw one on the garden centre last year and didn;t buy it because I had already ordered these.............grrrrrrr

        I ordered "blue" fuchsias from T&M last year and I got ... the plant in your photo!

          Well, if it helps any of you, the flower looks like Delta's Sarah. Assuming you would like to put a name to it.

          I don't mean to sound nangy*, but it is extremely irritating when what you have ordered is not what you receive.

          Money back is not good enough, it should be with interest. They have had your money for weeks, and what they have supplied is not what you ordered.

          Climb out of pram, fetch back dummy, and try to calm down.

          *nangy is a local dialect word for nasty tempered.

            They've probably only got one plant and as soon as anyone orders a fuchsia it's a case of "Right lads, get snipping, need some more cuttings for these numpties who think they are going to get different coloured flowers, fat chance!!!!!!.............tell the secretary to draw up ANOTHER load of apology letters, that'll fob em off"

                Yep i agree with 'Delta's sarah'
                Hawkshead is not an easy fuchsia to grow my disaster fuchsia is 'Ting-A-Ling' !
                If you want good fuchsia plants Ward fuchsias are brilliant !!!
                If you want good plants you are far better get themfroma specialist grower rather than T & M or the big growers !!

                  Looks a great site, problem is they don't have Hawkshead, however they do have a couple I fancy!

                    Agree with Valmarg, this looks like Delta's Sarah. Lovely plant but no good if it's not what you wanted.

                    In my experience it is not uncommon for big plant and seed companies to miss-label their stuff or incorrectly describe the varieties. This happens when you stray from the straight and narrow and try out more unusual varieties.

                      Would you believe it I just bought a couple of Delta's Sarah plug plants, they are growing nicely but looks like I'll be overrun with them!

                          fuchsia cuttings

                          i would be interested en swapping cuttings of fuchsias with or without roots

                          but i do live in spain so we would have to send them urgently in th autumn or winter

                            Just as an update, I've finally heard from T&M and they will be sending me out replacement plants next April. So that will be 18 months from first order to delivery, that must be a record?

                              I have quite a few varieties of fuchsias. If there are any particular named varieties you fancy, let me know, and I'll see what I've got.
