self-seeded cosmos

I have moved a few of my self seeded cosmos seedlings to another part of the garden (spread the love!). Did it a week ago and they look happy enough!!
I have no idea if they will come true but it sounds like you'll have a lovely display!

I have a massive garden to fill (previous owners did diddly squat), so I am slowly filling it with things that self seed or freebies from other people's gardens. I am hoping the resulting colour clashes won't give us all a headache lol. The cosmos was a free packet on a magazine last year, and they were lovely.

Now I just have to get them to like the conditions in the back garden too...

Ooh I didn't know cosmos will self-seed... I'm growing them for the third year in a row, they're ace

Yes, leave the flower heads on towards the end of the season and they will scatter everywhere. I try and steal other people's seed heads to increase the range of cosmoses every year. I really like the huge white ones, and got several seed heads from Ryton last year; and have germinated them in modules and we've got loads come up. They usually do come true....my first were the candy stripe ones and they still came good the next year.

Love Cosmos, grow them every year (diff types) and always let them self seed, been true to type up until now

Self seed lucky you, mine get devoured by slugs just put some some in the other day and slugs got half of them, my fault forgot to put slug pellets down (not the poison ones those granule things), good job i left most in greenhouse. Found some packets i got last year forgot about them so might just scatter them in a small area and see what happens .

We do have loads of slugs, but not in the self seeded patch... (yet) I guess when I move them they will get eaten then. I will prob protect them with some crushed shells so they can get established.

Funny, but I've never found Cosmos to be eaten by slugs?

They stripped their stems off, just left them to flop over, they have done the same to my sunflowers but just eat the whole of the cornflowers, fussy little buggers.

Little buggars ain't they, they love sunflowers!!! Honestly though they've never eaten any of my Cosmos, strange how yours got eaten
