All I know is that the leaves add a nice peppery taste to salads. The flowers can be used in the same salad to add a bit of colour and if that's not enough the seed pods when pickled make a useful caper substitute and are nice on pitza's and in salads!
They grow easily and are good among the cabbages as a sacrificial plant.

And apart from all that......they can be quite decorative and conserve moisture around other plants with their leaf canopy!

They're good sacrificial plants too for cabbage white butterflies, I had quite a few caterpillars on mine but the nasturtiums are so prolific it didn't do much damage. My cabbages were all netted to be on the safe side but I didn't seem to get any problems with cabbage leaves too near the netting.

They're fantastic to eat - for people. So generally speaking they'll be ok for dogs. (Great excepton to the above is CHOCOLATE)
