  • I Need Advice ^^

    Heya peoples

So now I have my wellies, I thought to myself I really need a piece of garden for myself. See my mum, BarleySugar, has mostly taken up the whole garden leaving me very little space... so what does she give me? She gives me the front garden, which is a total mess

As it is at the front it faces the south east, and is very dry and has clay soil... but mum has some homemade soil that I can use...

Now I just need to figure on what to put there, because I am pretty much clueless

I want it bright and colourful so when people walk past they can go wow and stuff...

So any ideas??? I'll post a picture tomoz to show the size of it, but it is very tiny...

My fornt garden is north facing, clay soil and only 11x6ft.

I have roses, alpine strawbs (for ground cover) narcissus and herbs, lupins. It did get into a bit of a mess last year cos I didn't really do anything with it, but the year before I had sweet peas, calendula, african marigolds and asters, lavatera. I'm now trying to plant it up with as many perennials and bulbs as possible.
Nigella, cornflowers, scented stocks. I'll think of more I'm sure!
Have been to a garden show today and got some more thyme, foxglove, more lupins, ornamental alliums, and some new lavenders cos my old ones got really woody and straggly and had to go!
Got lily of the valley on my wish list too.

My front garden is a total mess. It is very small and has a border either side of the bay window and what ever I put in I loose mostly, believe it or not through lack of water !!! I have to carry watering cans through the house or the hose pipe from the kitchen at the back. It also has a trailer on it which takes up most of the space. At the moment that bit is grass /weeds but I want to pave that bit and put lots of pots on ( trailer will have to stay ). I dont know what else to do with it.

Same here Jackie, front garden is a wreck - all my energy/time goes into the veggies! My lovely ex-neighbours in their quest for privacy (why buy a house with 8' windows?) created a large screen the length of the front garden with pampas grass at either end, bamboo and loads of other stuff - it shades my front garden for most of the day, I can grow beautiful moss if anyone wants some for their hanging baskets (although that would leave me without a 'lawn'). Groundforce has a lot to answer for
