  • Something cheap and easy?

We're probably not going to get a divide along the side the garden (long story) so I was looking for some bright flowers that are cheap and east to grow, something I can scatter a long the ground and let them grow...... would like something for cuttings as well.

Cosmos will do it for you Herby.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Ooh I love cosmos... How about poppies too? California poppies seem particularly tolerant of my haphazard 'sowing' (chucking) technique

Cosmos, Aster, Welsh Poppy, Nicotinia, Nigella - there are quite a lot to choose from really - you could even buy a ready made mix - wild flower mix etc.

Morrisons do cheap mixed seeds and Mr. Fothergills seeds which have 10% off I think

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I think I'll go for the cosmos as I brought some "shake & rake" seeds from Pound Land and has loads of different red and yellow wild flowers. These I will use on the flower bed as there is to much rubbish buried under the soil and cannot be bothered to clear any more so I thought I'd turn the earth other a bit and layer some spare soil on top and just use it as a "wild flower bed". I thinking if I used those up the side of the garden then it might be a bit to much so a little something different would be good.

Ok well I didn't go for the Cosmos in the end, I ended up getting another mixed set (eBay: Item number: 160322541046) they are cheap and have some of the flowers mentioned inn this thread.
