  • Allotment Rents

Can I ask for a consensus on allotment rents and increases please

If you can answer the following questions it would be most helpful for some research that I am doing.

How much is your rent on a yearly basis?

Do you have to pay an extra money for other services, such as water?

How much do the council increase your rent on a yearly basis, if not yearly then when?

    Anyone being charged vat?

    Thanks very much Allotmentlady

This might help, it was only last November so the rents are pretty recent.

            £5.00 per year

            There are no other services

As far as I am aware, rents have not increased for several years

I don't think any VAT is charged
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I've been told I'll pay £26 for the year as 50% concession for single parent status, but I only have a half plot. Not sure if VAT charged or what the rise has been year on year sorry. I only took the allotment over at the end of August and been told I don't have to pay anything til April this year. No extra charges as far as I know, although there is water on my plot.

£14 for a full plot, no additional things available ie no water or power therefore no additional payment. Dunno about increases as it's only my first year (will let you know in March!) but technically they can review it every year.

                    I pay 5 pounds for a 5 pole plot.
There are 2 water taps on the site, included in the price.
No increase the last 2 years.
No VAT as far as I'm aware.

                      1 £18 full plot
2 No - it includes water during BST
3 Has been static for 3 years I understand (I've only been there since May)
4 Nope - An odd one as domestic rent is VAT exempt and commercial rent is optional for VAT - I have no idea what an allotment would count as!
Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right!

Ours is £15 per year. No water, no electricity. It went up last year to pay for the plots that were in a state [including ours] to be rotavated.

Ours is £7.50p, we have water (hosepipe between two plots), and a toilet. It has been this amount for several years.
                            No VAT.

Oh yes, toilets, have installed a bucket in the shed on my plot as it was a bit of a H&S risk scrambling behind the big hedge at one end of the plot for a bit of private space for such things!
