  • Ohhh the back ache

    evening,

spent several hours on the new lottie today, we used a petrol strimmer and then put some round up down, it took along time, and boy was it hard work and so cold. i had to put my feet in warm water when I got in my toes were red and they hurt like mad.

People seem very friendly, the few that we saw, as it was so cold. Hopefully this is the way to keep fit.

I meant to take a photo, but completely fogot, got a chicken hotpot on the go, to warm up the bones.
    have a good evening all

But it's a nice kind of ache, I bet And just think, the more you get done each visit, the less there'll be to do next time!!

(actually, I made the last bit up - there's always loads to do)

Is it those back muscles between the shoulders which obviously have no other use than for digging?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

those are the ones I lost when I had me (cancer) surgery ... believe me, they're useful for a lot more than digging. Lifting your arms, turning your head ...

Poor you - not sure how to make this sound genuine and not pathetically weak......

Anyway, have just looked at my arms and they're pretty weedy so waving them about obviously doesn't give my digging muscles enough of a workout - perhaps I need to wear a heavy hat all winter so that I'll be in better shape by the spring.........

As I kept telling my laddie when he complained that it was wet and he was knackered. " No one died of hard work.............and your skins waterproof "

He's now got a job that involves some hard graft in all weathers and although he didn't appreciate the sentiments at the time he realises now that if he'd baulked at the work or the cold and wet.........he wouldn't NOW have a job at all!

Here endeth the first lesson from Cofucious Snadge!

to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Don;t waste all your Round Up now... it's the wrong time of year to be using it.

It needs to go on lush green healthy growth, and it needs at least 8 hrs of dry weather to be absorbed, otherwise it just washes off.
April/May is the time to use it.

Minxie - great name by the way. I love that ache, it makes me feel like I've worked hard. Not so overjoyed by the sound of toes so cold they need warmed up by warm water but I did get a chill last weekend at the lottie too- champ for dinner cleared that up.
I am very sorry to hear that you have had to deal with cancer - I hope the lottie gives you strength in more ways than one (ie. not just strong arm muscles!). I use my lottie as an Ecotherapy exercise and find that it is helping with mood elevation. Working hard and being around genuinely nice people. Plus these forums are great too.
Best of luck with everything - keep us all posted on your progress.
