  • Sexist Pigs?

Mrs A was in a rush today so as not to be late for a Conference in the city centre. She arrived with a few minutes to spare after a long delay on the motorway and time was tight as she pulled up in the car park outside the venue.

She found a space. reversed in and was busy getting her stuff out of the car when a voice said "You can't park there"

She turned to find 2 car park attendants walking towards her.

"But I follwed the arrows for the Conference parking" she protested.

"They're wrong" they replied "you can't park there"

One of the car park attendants then said, "If you are less than an hour, I'll let you stay where you are"

The other one said, "You can't do that"

The first one said to his mate "It'll be alright - I'll keep an eye on her car for her"

Mrs A - "I'm not going to come back to a ticket am I?"

Friendly car park attendant "I'm only letting you off this once" and then he laughed "If you had been a bloke I'd have moved you on"

Mrs A went to her Conference and it turned out all the Conference spaces had been taken so she should have paid for her parking after all.

Do you girlies always get treated like this by the powers that be?

Are the police and traffic wardens really suckers for a smile and a toss of the hair from a pretty face?

I've never had a traffic warden, parking attendant or a policeman do me any favours? Harumph!

I tend to get abuse, more than anything. I am blonde, petite and can pass for 18 (in Asda, anyway ) but ... I'm a cyclist. Everyone hates cyclists.

We have residents parking and a male officer plastered a ticket on my car, as I was coming down the steps to put the permit back in the front window - it had lost it's sticky and I was about to tape it back on -

he said as the permit wasn't on it when he first looked, that was the rules - fined me £60.00 outside my own house......when I had an in date permit...

what's more, at the time, my (now ex) husband was a copper at the same nick.

Sounds reasonable to me. ) Being a girl!

                      However.....

I parked in a disabled space when I was heavily pregnant with my first son and had SPD (an AWFUL condition that means you have trouble walking). I never use these spaces ordinarily but I was desperate.
I got caught by the Traffic Warden as I hadn't managed to park quite straight. Once he saw how immobile I was he was fine about it, and let me stay.

                      Nice chap.

or like the white van men and builders who park in the mother and baby in tescos cos they cant be bothered to walk and when you have a new born and ask them just before they pull into the last space if they would mind not using the space as its intended for you they hurl abuse infront of other children including swearing, so not on and apparently tescos can only enforce mis use of disabled bays so they get away with it. looked forward to round too of this in april. but im female and we dont have nice traffic wardens in our area.

They really are ignorant pigs - and that is an insult to pigs I think.

We have rows of white van men and builders parking in supermarket mother and baby and disabled parking bays where we live.

I'm always amazed at how many pregnant, disabled, female builders with children actually shop at supermarkets.

These are the same people who park on double yellow lines to use a cash point machine when there are empty parking bays 2 or 3 car lengths away - but no, poor little bunnies, they can only walk the width of a pavement without their car.
