    Do you remember?

I saw an advert on TV this morning for "Munch Bunch" yoghurts, and I was surprised that it had nothing to do with the Munch Bunch I remember as a kid.

I think I may investigate getting some of the old boks for when Bean is growing up.

Good way of learning some fruit and veg I'd say?

Just spotted this in the link you posted....

A completely different series of Munch Bunch books was published in 1998 by Ladybird Books in the UK to tie in with the yoghurts. Denis Bond and Angela Mitson had nothing to do with these and the characters were different although a few were similarly named eg Sally Strawberry.

        Yoghurt tie-in series 1998
        Andy Apricot
        Barney Banana
        Bertie Blackcurrant
        Ollie Orange
Rozzy Raspberry (different character though identically named)
Sally Strawberry (different character though identically named)

'Tis a lovely idea to gather all the books that you loved when you were a child. I've collected some lovely ones for when Baby girl is old enough, that were favourites in my childhood - some of those were very old and had been my mother's favourites too.

I adored the Ladybird series of little fairytale books that were published in the 1960's I think - not the reprint in the 70's and 80's. My mother had saved them all and the illustrations are incredibly beautiful.

Also anything illustrated by Hilda Boswell - got two treasury of stories and poetry that are gorgeous.

We've got modern stuff for her too, but these books are very special!

I love kids books, for a colleague at work a couple of years ago I went to a charity book shop and picked up several books for her newborn, that HB had loved when she was wee, (those that know her will know she loves her books) If I start giving you names though there will be no room left for bean in the lovely bedroom!!

I still have Hilda Boswells Treasury of poetry which was given to me in 1979 by my sisters. I love that book and so do my children. The illustrations are gorgeous.

I also recently read my children the faraway tree books, they were magical to me when I was a child.

I also saw something about old Raleigh biks, and in particular the Raleigh Budgie which I learned to ride on. Thought about getting one for Bean, but then thought they'd probably want something "cool" at the time.

                      One could get carried away...

The books I got as a kid were still printed on rough 'wartime rations' type paper - nothing with pretty illustrations. This was in the late 50s when I was reading my own books. They were all classics -Treasure Island, What Katy Did and stuff like that. Still don't know what happened in them - didn't pay much attention obviously - but if they'd had pictures? Who knows!

Being a child of mine lack of street cred's a given.

                              How cool is this though:

I'd respray it and everything! (I used to be obsessive about making all the chrome bits gleam as a kid)
