  • Blimey, is it him?

David Morrissey has responded to claims that he will replace departing star David Tennant in Doctor Who.

The acclaimed State Of Play actor is currently the bookmakers' favourite to take over from Tennant in the iconic role in 2010.

Morrissey, who appears in this year's Christmas special, told What's On Stage: "As for any talk of me taking over as the next Doctor, well, if or when they do choose someone, they would have to be totally different to David - which I am."

Of his role in 'The Next Doctor', he added: "I play a character called The Doctor – a man who believes himself to be a Time Lord. It was great to be on board, because I’m a huge fan of the programme and of David Tennant."

They said the new Doc would be unveilled in CiN - is this a ruse or is it HE?

Doesn't this make him the tenth Doctor? I'm sure a storyline when I was a kid said that he could only have 9 'lives'. Have I missed something? I accept that I haven't watched it since I was old enough to leave the room unaccompanied when it came on.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I'd love the next doctor to be a women, doubt it'll happen though.
