  • One of my very own!!

I have just been offered an allotment!! Yipee!! - Letter came in he post today and I only put my name on the list in August - I was told it was a 3 year wait!

Been down to see it this morning a bit overgrown but only with grass - and the outlines of a few beds still there! Not too big either as I don't want to be too ambicious to start with! 100 sq meters

And its on my way to work!

    I'm so excited

      Thank you!
I'm just planning it all out in my head now! I will need to get a small shed/somewhere to put the tools.

What are the essential items every lottie needs? (aside from the veg!)

get yourself a compost bin up and running at the begining.....compost those weeds plus whatever you bring from home. i made one from pallets recently.

I've got a darlek type compost bin in the back garden so I'll start off with that! I think I may invest in a tarpaulin for the boot of my car . . . . .

            sounds ideal!
an early Xmas present. You can get it in good shape for the spring.

A good idea for the back of the car is one of those sacks that you get stone / sand delivered in from builders merchants

If you want a 2nd compost bin try recyclenow.com and put in your postcode to see what is on offer in your area.

Car is a bit of a mess anyway if I'm honest! I still fancy having a shed on site though. I am looking online for cheapest options. I am determined not to spend much. Having this allotment is all about saving money!

tori, keep an eye out on your local freecycle.....i've seen sheds come up on mine, but they very quickly, so i always loose out. i've also seen pallets(in reference to your other thread), and i picked up a dallek type compost bin a couple of weeks ago
