  • Man flu?

    So myth or not??

A recent poll by panadol showed that 61% of all colds are misdiagnosed by customers as the flu, while men made up 54% of those suffering, non-men made up the other 46%, puzzling isn't it

I think the affliction known as 'man flu' has more to do with the response of those around the afflicted than those actually suffering. You see a man when ill likes to curl up on the sofa and show to the world and all visitors just how close to deaths door he really is, while those that aren't men prefer to refrain within the confines of the bedroom. Because of this those that aren't men are not seen and therefore not under men's feet annoying them, therefore the only conclusion that can be drawn is that non-men may well be suffering from man flu, but men would indeed be none the wiser!!.

I hope that this helps clear up the confusion.

....think you'll find us non-men tend to get bird flu.....or in poor, poor Lynda's case elephant flu!!!
I was actually shocked t'other day to hear that the average person will only get flu 3 or 4 times in their life!!....Andi,bless him is WAY over that average!!

lol if you ever actually get flu ........ you will realise that every cold you have ever had is a mere sniffle in comparison to the real thing ........ and when you get elephant flu ..... you will really know about it

Perception is a wonderful thing, and non-men are known to be more perceptive than men. So I guess, non-men may actually perceive a man afflicted with a bout of man flu, more regularily than a man, who will be completely unaware of the non-men's bird or elephant flu affliction. I'll do a little more research as see what comes up.....preferably not lunch.

lol, I can safely say with confidence that to date I have never suffered from either condition. I generaly get what is technically termed as the 24 hour germ, this normal casts its spell on a sunday, the only true day of rest.

real flu, man or otherwise is nothing even like a bad cold.

usually sickness will accompany it, and you feel it more in your bones, severe fevers and chills, shakingly so, not just feeling hot and sweaty.

that said i think colds in their way are the worst thing for making you feel like cr@p for longer.

Yup.. I have only had proper knock-me-flat-for-a-fortnight flu twice in my life. He works nights, would come home, get straight into bed and go to sleep. I still had to cook and do the school run etc. When the boot is on t'other foot, he moans like feck when I give him roughly the the same amount of sympathy that I received.

Proof that man flu does exist

well worth 90 seconds of anyones time to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that this terrible, misunderstood, misdiagnosed and oft maligned condition exists
