My bulbs are coming up. They are a 'spring mix' - dwarf daffs / tulips / iris and the like. The ones which are coming through are in a pot in a sheltered position near the house facing south. Is this why? I'm concerned now that we'll get some bad frosts and they'll die off. I never expected to see them this soon, I planted them in mid September.

so did i, spring mix jobbie from woolies, can't even remember what they are, but in two pots i have large leafy growth?

I know, but I might have forgotton if I hadn't planted them at the same time as the daffs. Or I would have remembered but forgotton where I'd put them. Or forgotton where they were supposed to go. Doh.Comment

I was wondering that too, I have some daffs coming up already, I didn't think they were meant to appear til spring next year?
There not in a sheltered place, so that can't be the reason for mine!Comment

I've got snowdrops coming up in the back garden, but they always do around this time - they seem to have a growth spurt every time there's a mild spell, then they get to full height just in time to flower
I haven't noticed daffs/tulips coming up as the bed is full of chrysanths still.

I have got some bulbs popping up at the allotment I planted them in a border last year. I thought I might put a bit more compost on the top, will this do any damage or will it be ok ?Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
