Q: Where are allotments available in Burnley?
    Answer: Woodgrove Road
    Heasandford
    Reedley Hallows

This is from Burnley Borough Council website, there's also a phone number and you can apply online for a plot, if you register A-Z of services | Allotments

If you come under Pendle?, there's a similar page on their Council website. A-Z of services | Allotments

Also, don't forget to contact your Parish Council, if they manage any sites the Clerk will know who you should speak to.

hive had the below reply from Burnley council. Not really acceptable
        "Hi ,

I have added your name to the waiting list, unfortunately all council allotment sites have huge waiting lists and it will take many years to get a plot

        Thanks Steve

Have you tried any surrounding villages, North Guy? In my town, we have a waiting list of 180 (I waited 8 years for my plot) but in the village 3 miles down the road, there are only 2 people on the waiting list.

If they are run by the parish you may have to live in within the parish boundary to qualify for a village allotment. Certainly the case here.

I'm in the neighbouring parish to my plot and the parish council were fine with it, in fact it's only just occurred to me that it might have been a problem now that you've mentioned it! Mind you, things might be different now that lotties are more popular.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Ours is only a small site so perhaps that's the rule. Strangely I can have one in the local town as they are run by the district council and I live within the district. The opposite isn't true if you live in the town you can't have a parish one!

That's really interesting about your different experiences. Our allotments (town) are managed by a Parish Council and the nearby village allotments are managed by a different Parish Council. I've emailed them to check the rules. It's purely hypothetical in my case as my plot and I in the town are very happy together but it would be nice to be able to pass the info on to the poor folks who are on the 180-strong waiting list in our town!

                    http://www.allotmoreallotments.org.uk/

Get a story in the local paper about how you're got decades to wait on the allotment waiting list. Ask for like minded people to contact you and then start a push with the council to get more land allocated for allotments.

Or speak to the site secretaries if they hold the waiting lists.

It's seems sensible for sites with long lists not to encourage people to push the council for site extensions or extra sites.

Hello - I've spotted this thread online but its from quite a number of years ago! If anyone is still looking for an allotment, we are a private allotment business just opened earlier this year, located on Greenhead Lane, Reedly Hallows BB12. Have a look at our website Grow your own - for more information. Thank you
