  • A Special Lady!

I'm not usually one to open up & spill my personal stuff, but feeling quite "empty" after my Grandmas funeral.I'm sure many of you have experienced that "so now what" feeling after losing someone you love!!Worrying that the closure a funeral is supposed to bring will also mean filling that void with something else.
I guess I just wanted to share what a wonderful lady she was~I can honestly never remember her wanting for anything that she didn't have & truly cherishing all that she did have. She led a very simple life & even when her suffering was at it's worst was always thankful for the care she recieved& always strived to have a smile & a joke no matter how dire a situation.
It's made me stop in my tracks & re-evaluate my own life. There's a lot we don't have & I think like us all I'm easily persuaded by advertisers that luxeries are actually necessities, getting so bogged down by what I think we need, sometimes forgetting to take a closer look & appreciating what I've got.And you know what,I love what I've got~may not be worth a lot in monetary terms but I have a beautiful, loving family, fantastic kids & I know times are hard with money & making ends meet, but for now we have what we "need".
Sorry for going all deep & meaningful on you(& so close to the w/e as well!!),but just felt the need to share the positive that she's had on my perspective of life.Thankyou Grandma!!xx

Di, your Grandma does sound like a very special lady, she has obviously had a massively positive influence on you, I'm so sorry for your loss.
It's 5 months now since my Nan died and I still miss her like crazy, had a little cry yesterday and I'm always chatting to her, it does help.
Lots of love to you xxxxx

So sorry for your loss... nothing can bring her back but at least you have the knowledge that she made a difference in your life, and so you really can think of her as still being a part of your life, and not just a memory. Inspirational people like that are so special.

My Grandma died when I was young, strange thing is as I have got older I really could do with having grandparents around. No one to talk things over with- I miss that
Hugs and kind wishes to you and all your family.

Nothing wrong with sharing, Di. I lost my last Grandparent at the age of 6, so I missed out on all the kiddie-granny interactions. I wonder if that's why I LOVE sitting down with old people and just talking. They're amazing when you uncover all their worldly wisdom and experiences.

Big hugs to you for your loss. Sounds like it was a privilege to know her. xx

My Thoughts are with you Di!

It is sometimes good to share things with people that you are not so close to!
You know when people say that "time will heel", I do not quite beleive that! I beleive that with time, you just come little by little, to learn to accept things as they are now! Each day with the passing of time will be just a little more easy to cope with than the one before! Just take it one day at a time Di and at your own pace, that's all any of us can do!

It is nearly 5 years now since I lost my dear old dad. He was my dad,my rock and my best friend all roled into one! I still miss him a lot, still talk to him now and then, sounds silly I know but I find it a comfort!

Sending you some love vibes along the vine and big big hugs. Take care
                xx Jan
Live like you never lived before!

Laugh Like you never laughed before!

Love like you never loved before!

My grannie died when I was about 3 yrs old, my nan lived in southend so only saw her occasionally until she came to live with us. She was horrible to us she had told my mum that my dad was no good and they didnt get on, my dad died when I was six. My nan lived with us at the end of her life, funny that considering she put my mum into a foster home around about 1917 at the age of five or rather she was taken away from her, what sort of life did she think my mum had.
I wish my gran had lived longer cos she was the best., She used to say who loves grannie the best and the one who shouted the loudest got the biggest helping.
I have one grandson at the moment and I try to be a good grandma.
Sorry for your loss as she must have been very special to you.

So I now see where you get it from, oh positive one. I believe its always best to surround yourself with people that see the best of all situations, you have clearly inherited this trait, and as such she will always be with you. big hug hun.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I could not agree with you more Mikey, Di is also a very special lady and as I am chatting to her at this very minute i know she is crying and i am too, that is one of the nicest things to say and so lovely.

Di, your grandma is very proud of you, i only had one grandparent that truly liked me or knew me, 2 died when i was young and my nan only liked some of the others GC, but my grandad was my rock and i think of him everyday, its 15 years since i lost him and he is my inspiration for my gardening.

Cherish the time you had, and i know you will never forget her and she will never ever forget you, god bless you grandma, i hope your sleep is now peaceful xxxxxx

Its good to share Di, and your Grandma sounds like she was the best. My Nan is still around, but she has Alzheimers and does not recognise any of us anymore, for some reason that feels worse for me than losing her any other way. Alzheimers is so cruel. I have very happy memories of my Grandad who died in 1997, and who I still miss very much.

Sorry about your nan Kirsty. We were so lucky that although she had many poorly moments, which at times turned her a little more loopy than normal, she exited this world at the right time.Hard as I'm sure it must be for you,try to cling to the happier memories you have!((x))
