  • just had another shock

went to the corner shop, and the local plastic policeman, was outside having a giggle with some teenagers, boys and girls about 14, one of them was shouting to him, so he said shush, and the kid came across the road to talk to him ....... and even stranger ...... they didn't even stick 2 fingers up at him or throw bricks at his head, when he went

I recently cut through a local "jitty" with the kids and came across, 4 or 5 local teens drinking beers, I immediately though "oh no!" but as we approached they looked up and smiled, and said "afternoon, lovely day!" I nearly fell over! Then I though how sad that we tar all teens with the same brush.
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

No disrespect meant here and never judge a book...... but!
A while back when in Lymington I was sitting on quay wall watching little fishes, when a very scruffy, shorn headed, 10'ish year old came up sat near me.
His family were buying ice creams, pitbulls abound, fags hanigng out of mouths, swearing etc (not a nice looking bunch of young parents)
Little scruffy kid looks at me says.....
              "disgusting innit"
              startled I replied
              "what is?"
              "all the rubbish" he replied
(usual stuff you see at high tide) shocked I replied "yes, yes it is"
I said that if he looked carefully he would see the little fish, "WOW" he said "I can see fish, I can see the fish!" then he carried on discussing all the rubbish and that people should not do this (throw it in the sea)
He shouted to the rude, swearing, pitbull owning, young mob that were his parents and their pals........"Dad look, I can see fish, lots of little fish" so excited was this little kiddy .....Dad just said "sod awf stupid"
Poor little lad ....what hope ehh? (broke my heart)
What hope for this little Kiddy who dares to care- just hope he has good teachers or finds a good mentor in life that can move him forward- the lad deserves it! I wish him well.

Aw, HF, that's enough to break anyone's heart. The fact that he realises at such a tender age the difference between right or wrong AND can find simple pleasures does give me hope, though.

Might be a silly question, but why if you're in Barrow do you claim to be Manchester (ish)? You're about a 3 hour drive away and costal so your growing conditions will be totally different

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Must stand up for one of our local plastic policeman, with the help of the regular polis he has put an end to a five year reign of antisocial behaviour by a neighbour and her son (regulars did nothing on their own).

It almost makes up for them stopping and harrassing my son and two friends (then 10yrs)for skimming stones across a river - because they were miffed that the kids didn't know if some hoodies near by had MOT's for their scooters! (how would they know, my son didn't even know what an MOT was....)I complained and got an apology but the damage to their reputation was done.
