  • watering hanging baskets

As a short Arris, I find it difficult to water hanging baskets. I've discovered the best, quickest, easiest way is to pop some ice cubes in the container, which slowly melt to water the plants.

You don't waste water, because it doesn't all come gushing out the bottom like it does with a watering can.

I've now refined my technique: I'm using small Tupperwares instead of little ice cubes (they hold more water) and I'm adding a pinch of Miracle Gro to the water before I freeze it. Just in case anyone decided to use these as a Slush Puppy, I add a couple of granules of coffee - there's no way anyone will be using the brown ice

It's working really well; neither the ice nor the miniscule amount of coffee seems to be harming the plants.

      Brilliant! And so simple.

I've used many of your good ideas already and I will be having a go at this one too.
