    Cleaning houseplant and succulent leaves

    Hello everyone,

    I'm having a spring clean prior to moving house - most of my house plants have very dusty leaves and the dust doesn't seem to wash off under the tap or shower, especially from the money trees in the kitchen and two large rubber plants in the bathroom.

    I'm a bit reluctant to put them outside in the rain after a nasty experience of vine weevil hitching a ride indoors on an umbrella plant a couple of years ago!

    Does anyone have any tips for cleaning succulent and rubber plant leaves?

    I bought special wipes once, I think they were made by the Baby Bio people. I have also read that you can use cotton wool dipped in milk but always been a bit reluctant to try that.

      I'm sure Baby Bio sell plant wipes in a tub. I would hazard a guess that baby wipes would do the trick...

            I've also heard that milk is the way to go....

            There is a spray that the plant guys in my job use and the leaves are fab after that. Actually that has been no help to you cos I don't know the name of it

                My mum used to clean the house plants with a rag "dipped" in mushed avocado. Left them clean and shiny.

                    My Rubber plant, swiss cheese plant, and mother in laws tongue get a fortnightly wipe over with unperfumed baby wipes, leaves them nice and clean and shiney

                        I always used milk on mine. Haven't got the plants now - they outgrew the house - I gave them away but they were in good nick. Milk and a cotton wool ball. It leaves a lovely gloss.

                          I have been looking for wipes and thanks to you have found exactly what I want.

                          Those who mentioned Baby Bio are quite right. I used to use a similar product 15 years ago and they were so convenient.

                          Milk on cotton wool or kitchen roll does work too but I find it's more fiddly.

                          I did try Baby wipes last week and it doesn't seem to have done any harm and I'm sure the leaves are happier and able to breathe better as there was a lot of dust coming off! Just wondered if I could be doing any harm!

                            Baby wipes or the milk will do the trick and much cheaper than the actual leaf wipes make sure they are unperfumed though!!
